Online Quran classes for Pakistanis living abroad
Living in the UK, USA, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Canada or elsewhere? Here is how Pakistani families abroad use online Quran classes to keep children connected to the Quran, in any time zone.
The challenge for families abroad
Millions of Pakistanis live and work overseas, from London and Manchester to New York, Houston, Toronto, Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah. Many parents worry about one thing above all: will our children grow up reading the Quran the way we did back home?
Local mosques abroad do important work, but weekend classes are often crowded and short, and travel distances can be long. Finding a qualified teacher who also understands a Pakistani family's background, language and expectations is not always easy. Online Quran classes bridge that gap, connecting families abroad with teachers who share their culture, wherever they live.
Timing across time zones: we teach 24/7
Time zones are the first practical question. A class at 7 pm in Lahore is the middle of the afternoon in London and early morning in New York. That is why we teach 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Classes are scheduled in your local time, not Pakistan time, and you choose the days.
Some typical patterns families use:
- UK: after school, around 4 to 6 pm, or at weekends.
- USA and Canada: after school or early evening, Eastern, Central or Pacific time.
- UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Gulf: after school or after Asr or Maghrib, very close to Pakistan time.
- Australia: after school in the local afternoon.
When you book, simply tell us your city and the times that suit you. Daylight saving changes in the UK, USA and Canada are handled by keeping your class at the same local time.
Urdu, English or both
Children raised abroad often think in English, even if they understand Urdu at home. Our teachers can explain in English, in Urdu, or a mix, whichever the child understands best. Many parents like their children to hear some Urdu too, to keep that connection alive. Just tell the teacher what you prefer.
What children and adults study
The path is the same as for students in Pakistan:
- Noorani Qaida for beginners.
- Nazra Quran for fluent reading.
- Tajweed for correct recitation.
- Hifz for memorisation.
- Islamic Studies for kids: kalimas, duas, wudu and namaz, which many families abroad value highly because children see fewer of these practices around them.
Adults abroad also join, often to improve recitation they last practised as children, or to keep up while busy with work. See Quran classes for adults.
Why one-to-one matters even more abroad
Children abroad may have less exposure to Arabic sounds and Quran recitation in daily life. They often need more patient correction, particularly for letters that do not exist in English. A one-to-one teacher can focus on exactly those sounds, at the child's pace, without the pressure of a crowded weekend class. Parents can also sit in and follow progress closely.
Practical tips for families abroad
- Fix a regular class time and treat it like any other school commitment.
- Use headphones and a quiet room, especially in smaller apartments.
- Keep a Qaida or Mushaf at home; the teacher can also share pages on screen.
- Encourage children to recite what they learn in salah and at family gatherings.
- Check your internet connection before class; a stable Wi-Fi connection is best.
- If siblings learn too, schedule their one-to-one classes back to back to keep the evening simple.
Fees for families abroad
Our standard fee for students in Pakistan is PKR 7,500 a month per student, for Monday to Friday (20 one-to-one 30-minute classes a month). For families living outside Pakistan, or who want weekend classes or more or fewer days, please call or WhatsApp our team to discuss fees and timings for your country. WhatsApp calls are free over the internet, so contacting us from abroad costs nothing extra. You can see more on our fees page.
Faith and identity for children abroad
For many families abroad, Quran classes are about more than reading. They help children feel connected to their faith, their parents' culture and their extended family back home. A child who can recite surahs confidently in salah, read the Quran with grandparents on a video call, or join in at a family gathering in Pakistan gains a sense of belonging that is hard to give in any other way.
A teacher who understands the Pakistani background can also help with small things that matter to families: the duas used at home, the way the Mushaf is printed in Pakistan, and the respectful manners children are expected to show.
Adults abroad
Busy professionals abroad often tell us they stopped reading regularly after leaving home, and want to reconnect. With classes available 24/7, you can fit a 30-minute class into an early morning before work, a lunch break, or a late evening. Many adults choose Tajweed to polish their recitation; others start again from Qaida, privately, without embarrassment. Read learning Quran with Tajweed online for what to expect.
School holidays and travel
Families abroad often travel to Pakistan for summer holidays or weddings. Because classes are online, children can continue their lessons from their grandparents' home in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad or anywhere with internet, simply adjusting the class time to Pakistan time while they are there. Just let our team know your travel dates.
Planning classes for several children
Families abroad often have two or three children learning at once, at different levels. Each child gets their own one-to-one class, so a younger child can work on Qaida while an older sibling studies Tajweed or Hifz. Scheduling the classes back to back, for example 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 pm local time, keeps the evening organised and lets one parent supervise. If one child needs weekend classes because of after-school activities, that can be discussed with our team. Some parents also take a class themselves after the children finish, turning Quran time into a family routine.
