Joining an online Quran academy: your first month, step by step

Many families in Pakistan like the idea of an online Quran academy but are unsure what actually happens after they send the first message. Who calls back? How is the teacher chosen? What does the first week feel like? This guide walks you through the whole journey, from the first WhatsApp to the end of your first month of classes.

Before you contact an academy

If you are still comparing options, start with our checklist on how to choose the best online Quran academy in Pakistan, or our honest comparison of an online Quran academy vs a local madrasa. This article assumes you have decided to try online classes and want to know what joining looks like in practice.

It helps to have a few answers ready before you call or message:

  • Who is learning? A child, a teenager, an adult, or more than one person in the family.
  • Where are they now? Never started, partway through Noorani Qaida, reading slowly from the Quran, or reading well but wanting better Tajweed.
  • When are they free? A rough idea of the times that suit school, work and family routines.
  • Teacher preference. Whether you would like a female or male teacher, and whether explanations should be in Urdu or English.

Do not worry if you are unsure about the level. Placing a student at the right starting point is the teacher's job, and it happens during the free trial.

Step 1: the first call or WhatsApp

At Online Quran Academy, you can call or WhatsApp +92 333 8182884, email info@onlinequranacademy.pk, or fill in the short form on our free trial page. Our admissions team replies on WhatsApp or by phone. Because we teach 24/7, 7 days a week, it does not matter whether you message after Fajr, during the office lunch break or late at night.

In that first conversation, the team asks the questions above, explains how the one-to-one classes work and answers your questions about fees and timings. There is no payment at this stage and no pressure to commit. The aim is simply to arrange three free trial classes at times that suit you.

Step 2: the 3-day free trial

The trial is three real one-to-one classes with a qualified teacher, not a sales call. Each class is a live video lesson. The teacher shares the lesson page on screen, either a Noorani Qaida page or the relevant page of the Quran, and the student reads from the shared screen while the teacher listens and corrects. No physical Quran or Qaida is needed in class.

Over the three days, the teacher will usually:

  • Assess the level: which letters and sounds the student knows, how fluently they read, and which pronunciation habits need work.
  • Teach a real lesson, so you can see how corrections are made and how the teacher explains things.
  • Recommend a course: Noorani Qaida for beginners, Nazra Quran for reading from the Quran, Tajweed for correct recitation, or Hifz for memorisation.

Use the trial actively. Sit nearby if the student is a young child. Notice whether the teacher is patient, whether the student understands the explanations, and whether the time of day works. If something does not feel right, say so; the team can change the teacher or the time.

Step 3: getting the setup right

Most technical problems in the first week are small and easy to fix. A setup that works well for most families:

  • A laptop or tablet on a table, rather than a phone held in the hand. A bigger screen makes the shared Qaida or Quran page much easier to read, especially for children.
  • Headphones with a microphone, so the teacher can hear every sound clearly, even in a busy home.
  • A quiet corner away from the television, with the same spot used every day.
  • A stable internet connection. If load-shedding is common in your area, a small UPS for the router helps keep the class going.

Our team sends the class link and helps with the first setup. Nobody is expected to be a technology expert.

Step 4: choosing the plan, days and teacher

After the trial, you decide whether to continue. If you do, you confirm three things:

  • The course the teacher recommended, or a different one if you prefer.
  • The time and days. Our standard plan is Monday to Friday, 20 one-to-one 30-minute classes a month. Because we teach 24/7, you choose the time that fits school, work and family. Weekend classes, or more or fewer days a week, are discussed with our team.
  • The teacher. Usually the trial teacher continues, so the student keeps the same voice and the same corrections. You can choose a female Quran teacher or a male teacher.

The fee is PKR 7,500 a month per student, for Monday to Friday (20 one-to-one 30-minute classes a month). There is one clear monthly fee in Pakistani rupees, and it is the same for every course. Full details are on our fees page, and payment details are shared after the trial.

Your first week of regular classes

The first week is about building a routine more than covering pages. A good online Quran academy uses this week to settle the student in:

  • Same time every day. Children in particular settle faster when the class happens at a fixed time, for example after school and lunch, or after Asr or Maghrib.
  • Revision of trial lessons, so the student starts with something familiar and gains confidence.
  • A short daily task. The teacher sets a small piece to practise before the next class, usually five to ten minutes of reading aloud.

For parents, this is the week to watch quietly. Sit nearby for the first few classes if your child is young, then step back once they are comfortable. Our parent's guide to online Quran classes for kids has more ideas for the home side of learning.

Weeks two to four: what progress looks like

Progress in Quran learning is steady rather than dramatic, and it looks different on each course:

  • Noorani Qaida: the student recognises more letters, says them from the right place in the mouth, and begins reading letters with their vowel marks. Young beginners can see our guide to online Qaida classes for kids.
  • Nazra Quran: reading becomes smoother, with fewer stops and fewer repeated mistakes on the same words. See our guide to learning Quran reading online.
  • Tajweed: the student starts applying rules such as noon saakin, meem saakin and the madd letters in their own recitation, not just naming them. For children, read online Tajweed classes for kids.
  • Hifz: a daily rhythm of new lesson, recent revision and older revision takes shape. Our guide to online Hifz alongside school explains how this fits around a school day.

The honest measure is not how many pages were covered but whether the student reads the current lesson correctly and confidently. A good teacher only moves on when that is true.

End of the first month: a simple review

At the end of month one, take ten minutes to review how things are going. Ask yourself, and the teacher:

  • Is the student reading more correctly than at the start of the trial?
  • Does the student look forward to the class, or at least attend without a struggle?
  • Is the time of day still working with school, work and family?
  • Do you, as a parent or learner, understand what the next month will focus on?

If any answer is no, talk to our team. Changing the time, adjusting the days or switching teacher is normal, and it is much better to adjust early than to let a routine quietly fade.

Common first-month mistakes to avoid

Most families who stop online classes early do so for small, fixable reasons. Watch out for these:

  • Choosing a time that is always rushed, such as straight after a long school day with no break or food. A slightly later slot often works far better.
  • Using a small phone for a young child, which makes the shared page hard to read.
  • Skipping the daily practice. Five minutes of reading aloud between classes makes a visible difference.
  • Expecting speed. Rushing through the Qaida or the Quran builds habits that later take months to correct.
  • Not speaking up. If something is not working, the team can only fix it if they know.

Why families choose Online Quran Academy

Online Quran Academy is an online Quran academy for families across Pakistan and Pakistanis worldwide, and the sister academy of Smart Quran Academy, following the same one-to-one method. What that means in practice:

  • Every class is live and one-to-one, with the teacher listening to every letter.
  • Qualified female and male teachers, with explanations in Urdu or English.
  • We teach 24/7, 7 days a week, so you choose the time.
  • One clear fee: PKR 7,500 a month per student, for Monday to Friday (20 one-to-one 30-minute classes a month).
  • A 3-day free trial before you pay anything.

We focus on what matters most for most families: correct Quran reading with Tajweed, especially for children, starting from Qaida and Nazra, and Hifz for those who are ready.

Picking a time that lasts

In the first month, the class time often decides whether the routine sticks. If you are unsure which slot to choose, read online Quran academy timings: the best class time for your child, then test that time during the free trial.
